A Couple of Things

Hello all and Happy New Year!

It’s been a little while since I’ve made any posts and a couple of things have popped up.

Firstly, I’m not one to solicit but as some of you may have read in our most recent twitter post, the FWISD is currently doing it’s Kid’s Heart Challenge. This one always makes sense to me. As athletes, we are all well aware of the importance of cardiovascular health. The program that the schools have adopted, is doing many positive things. The kids are being exposed to healthy habits and lifestyle choices, encouraged to exercise and even being made aware of emergency care such as CPR. All in all it’s a very positive program. As most of you know, preventative healthcare is the best. It saves lives and tax dollars. Something I’m sure we all care about. If you’re interested or capable, the link below allows for donations which go entirely to the American Heart Association for research, treatment and education. The kids involved also get little trinkets and toys for helping raise funds. Hence, Lukha’s name on the donation page. Kid's Heart Challenge 6 days left.

Second, we are very excited for Renden Prestridge of New World Combat to be fighting this coming Saturday, Feb 1st in Clearwater, Florida. Renden will be fighting in a 4 man tournament for the WBC National Amateur Muay Thai Championship at 147lbs. He’s an excellent fighter and I’m putting my money on him. Best of Luck Renden! You should be able to watch the event live here: WBC Muay Thai

Lastly, we’ve got a very cool CQC seminar coming to New World Combat this Feb the 22nd. The seminar will be from noon till 5pm on that Saturday for $100. My friend and my former teacher, Hock Hochheim will be covering all kinds of combat and self defense techniques and drills. These courses are excellent for retention and immersion. They are not physically demanding aside from the occasional get up and down motions. Wear street clothes with a belt and bring any training gear. “LIVE” weapons will not be permitted into the training area. Please make arrangements to store any such gear in your vehicles or within the lobby area of facility. Some folks have asked about their physical limitations or having to leave early. The answer is the same for both. Do what you can and ALL are welcome. For those that may have attended a Hock seminar before, we have made arrangements for this one to be a little different. We’re looking to maximize your time with training. More info can be found via the link and you are welcome to pay at the door. Doors open 11:30am and seminar begins at noon. Hock CQC Seminar

Well, that about sums it up for me this time. Thank you again to all of our subscribers and to all of our members over the years. This year marks the 26th year of teaching in Fort Worth. It started small and went fast. Thank you everyone and best of luck and health to all in the New Year!
